IMAGINE

He stares sullen into the fire; gilded-ebony shadow, curling heat scrimming his
skin. 'Only a gardener', he tells himself too often, and it isn't like he
can very well forget it, really -- only that perhaps he pushes it away when he
must…
Sees his own broad hand smoothing over skin white and fine, warming to
glowing rose beneath his rough touch; pushes away the vision of dirt staining
blunt fingertips, crusted beneath short nails.
Feels his own round body pressed to lithe sinew, curling and winding about him;
pushes away the earthen scent of wind and loam that cling to his skin and hair,
regardless of a thorough wash.
Hears soft cries and Elvish poetry spoken slow to his skin; pushes away the
sound of his own coarse speech, his words stuttered and untutored.
A hand on his shoulder, long fingers caressing the rough weave of his shirt. He
winces a little.
"Coming to bed, Sam-love?"
Sam stands, turns. Eyes full of love look back at him and they see only
him, wind-chapped cheeks, sun-bleached hair, rough-tipped fingers, and this
is him and that love is for everything he is.
And Sam pushes away everything. Everything but this.
